i added two bay leaves and used only 1/2c of chicken stock. also i made it the day before and refrigerated it overnight, that way i was able to remove the fat from the sausage. really yummy.

Granted, this isn't "authentic" Jambalaya without the rice cooked with it, but for a "quick fix", it's pretty good. Always nice to come home to a hot meal from work. Can always adjust the heat with a little cayenne.

Rice is always cooked with the rest of the ingredients for a jambalaya. This is more like a chicken and sausage stew.

this recipe is more of a gumbo than jambalaya. jambalaya has the rice cooked in with the rest of the ingredients.

It was great! Took advantage of the comments and browned the meats & made it with the rice in and a WHOLE can of chicken broth. Soooo good and filling, it's a good meal the 2nd time cooked too!

Sounds like a nice version of jambalaya. The flavour would likely be better if the meats are browned lightly first. To include the rice in the dish try adding it with about 3 hours left. Note that the rice will soak up the liquid in the ration of 2 cups liquid for every cup of rice so be sure there is enough liquid in the pot when you add your rice.

Real jambalaya has the rice cooked in it, not separately.
