Both baking soda and baking powder are leavening agents, which means they are added to baked goods before cooking to produce carbon dioxide and cause them to 'rise'. Baking powder contains baking soda, but the two substances are used under different conditions.

On the Italian Cookies 1, it says3teaspoons baking powder, then it says combine flour and baking soda. Which is it baking soda or baking powder, as the recipe on the video doesn't show the baking soda as one of the ingredients?
