Has anyone made it with Whole wheat flour. Should I use less flour or just buy white flour??

I have an old oven that can't go higher than 300F. So I have to bake everything longer. This calls for 300 - good. But I often get banana bread with a gooey center. What if I poured in half the batter, laid a banana in the middle and topped it with the rest of the batter? Has anyone done this? Is it likely to work?

I just made this recipe. It was okay but I don't think I would give it five stars. I did everything according to the directions except I substituted baking powder for baking soda and I omitted 1/2 cup sugar. I only made one half of the recipe because it obviously is a large recipe.

I have a recipe really close to this one. However, others I have looked at call for flour, salt, baking soda AND baking powder. This recipe and mine doesn't call for baking powder. Does baking powder do something different to the bread? I'm not really sure about what ingredients do when mixed together, I just follow the recipes and hope they turn out ok. Thanks, Al.

This recipe obviously makes a lot more than 4 3x7" loaf's of bread I just made it & waiting for it to come out of the oven. Will follow up with a comment on taste!

This recipe is outrageous. I have done several other recipes of banana bread nut this one deserves a gold trophy. I made it into cupcakes and sprinkled the sugar cinnamon mixture on the bottom of the paper cups. It was heavenly. just for kicks I sprinkled the top of them too. I will definitely make this one again and again. My taste buds cant have enough. Thanks!

Best ever!! Freezes well, and I particularly like the fact that it makes "4" loaves. Same work....more rewards! I followed it exactly but I added raisins. Yumm! The only problem I had was mixing the final stage with a hand mixer which is all I have, so I mixed it by hand. Thanks for a great recipe....it's a keeper!

This recipe is the best I've tasted. The only change I made was to sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on the bottom of the greased loaf pan instead of over the top of the batter. The top is always moist and delicious and the bottom never tastes as good in comparison so the change I made makes the bread good to the very last bite.
