I substitute Savory Garlic Cooking Cream for the plain cream cheese and it's wonderful!

I don't care for recipes that use commercial products like dry Italian dressing mixes and canned cream of chicken soup. I'm sure the final dish tastes great, but it's probably not as healthy as it would be if the dish was made from scratch.

My mom used to make this years ago. We called it Perfect Chicken! I still make it, but I cook the soup and cheese in a saucepan until creamy then add it to the chicken. And it is perfect. You can substitute the chicken with frozen meatballs and the cream soup with golden mushroom cream soup. Thin the sauce with a little consomme. Makes terrific cocktail meatballs.
