I have been using this technique for dicing an onion for 2 or 3 years now, and it has made all the difference. My eyes are highly sensitive to onions. In fact, I can be in a completely different room and immediately know that someone is cutting an onion, because I start tearing (a lot!). This technique makes it almost pain-free! :)

I'm almost 71 years old and I've never known how to easily cut and dice an onion. I now know to leave the root end intact. Thank you!

Garlic smell on your hands can be easily removed by rubbing them with stainless steel under running water. I just use the chef's knife--you have to wash it anyhow. Just don't slice yourself.

I hate mincing garlic! It gives me such a hard time because of the stickiness! I will have to try to cut it into slivers before mincing! Thanks for the tips!
