I got a few bunches of kale at a local farm I volunteer at. I've heard kale chips are really great, so I'm anxious to try it, but need all the advice I can get ;)

@Gemrich Kale is actually suppose to be eaten, it's much more nutritious than spinach or romaine. Kale can be used in a variety of ways in salads, side dishes and snacks.

I've baked kale chips with zero oil also, just lower the temp and bake longer. It's also fun to add nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavor that's also vegan and nutritious.

If u just drizzle the oil, you risk not coating all the leaves....I put mine in a bowl, drizzled with oil, then using my hands, tossed the kale leaves until I was sure all leaves were coated...DID NOT ADD the salt b4 baking....salt pulls the moisture out of the leaves, risking soggy chips. After the baking, I used the salt. Perfect.

Try use both purple & green kale. Try using other tpyes of seasonings for variety. Garlic, onion, curry, turmeric, even a little cayenne if you lkike it hot. Sprinkle to taste. I don't bother with salt. Yum.

You can make healthier chips by just dehydrating them in your dehydrator. Then you can use them as snacks, and you can add them to soup and stews. Just a thought. I have dehydrated everything this summer.

I made them once and they tasted like burnt popcorn after a while! And they also got stuck in my teeth! So they are okay!
