Thank you for this video! I'm a beginner and I was having trouble knowing exactly how to handle the dough because fearing I was going to work it too much. Ha I was working it way too little! I appreciate hearing about pressing your thumb in the middle before baking. THat will also help my biscuits.

I love the way you poured the buttermilk in the hollowed out middle of the bowl like my mother makes hers. She used lard also but the butter is also good.

You can also buy powdered buttermilk. I buy SACO brand cultured buttermilk blend. (It's in a squat, round container, 12 ounces, and has a cartoony looking chef on the front.) You add this to water. You have to keep it refrigerated, but for those of us who can't buy buttermilk, or who just don't use it too often, it's a much better alternative. They have a website: Good luck.

Celeste: He give buttermilk, not milk, as the liquid ingredient. ThuanPoe POH: Add a little lemon juice or vinegar to your milk to make a good substitute for buttermilk.

I do not use salt just shorting and 1 tbs of sugar baking power and milk flour too of course.
