Hi, unter der laterne and lisa: I often cook in a Pyrex bowl in my slow cooker (even for recipes that cook for 8 hours or more). I add about an inch of water around the bowl to create a bain marie. I also have a small Corningware dish that I sometimes use instead of the Pyrex bowl. I've been using this method for years and have never had a problem. I got the idea from a slow cooker cookbook. Happy cooking--and eating!

HEADS-UP FOR UNTER.PLEASE DO NOT PUT Your PYREX BOWL IN TO THE SLOW COOKER EVEN AS A BAIN MARIE.you will have chocolate glassy mess as it will not be able to with stand the heat from the sides or bottom,they now sell inserts much like oven bags just for slow cookers thank god lololololol good luck lisa HAPPY HOLIDAYS

what size crokpot does one use? I was thinkig of using a pyrex bowl for the batter and puttng it into my largest crockpot. Afterthe cake is done I would be able to invert the cake onto a platter. Any advice or suggestions would be very appreciated.
