Love my "boat motor" for soups and sauces. For smoothies, however, a blender still works best.

I agree with NJKane--the Vitamix is the only way to go with smoothies and soups. (Yes, it makes hot soup.) I use my immersion blender for things cooking on the stove. Mine is a Cuisinart and I haven't had any problems after almost 9 years.

My favorite Christmas present this past year a Cuisinart hand blender with lots of bells and whistles. I keep it on the easy to reach shelf I use it that much.

I just love this tool ~ for me I have a KA. So simple and easy to use, especially when it comes to making soups. Could not live without mine. It doesn't get easy than this!

I had one in the early '90's and it wore out. After watching this video and reading how much others use them I think I will go get one with my gift card!

I have a Kitchen Aid that I have had for about 5 years and love. I use it all the time. I have had no problems at all with overheating, and I have blended some pretty thick stuff.

I purchased a Braun about 20 years ago....it still works and I use it frequently. I even brought it to our clubhouse when I made breakfast (to beat the eggs for scrambled eggs)....people liked the eggs so much that they bought one to have in the kitchen. Love it!

I am not certain, but it looks like a Cuisinart blender in the video. I have the Cuisinart immersion blender in aqua blue that I recently received. I have been using it for smoothies and I love the quick clean up. This immersion blender is quite powerful!
