This is not traditional, but I would add hot pepper flakes, and at the end of the cooking time, some parmesan cheese, and then put back in the oven, so that it can brown.

I make this, but instead of tomato sauce or juice I puree a lg. can of stewed tomatoes. I also add a tbl. spoon of Worchestershire sauce, and a stalk of finely cut up celery. Because it makes such a large amount when I reheat it the next day I put some shredded co-jack cheese on it. It is a huge hit with my family.
