Caramel Shortbread Squares

This video shows you how to make quick-and-easy caramel shortbread squares. They’re an irresistable dessert trifecta: caramel candy, cookie, and milk chocolate treat all rolled into one! You’ll spread the homemade caramel layer over the cookie crust layer and then finish with the melted chocolate layer. Kind of like a homemade Twix bar. And so simple to make. Watch the video, then get Julia’s 5-star recipe for Caramel Shortbread Squares. They make a terrific food gift for the holidays!

We call this simply "Caramel Slice" in Australia. Instead of the Brown Sugar for the caramel part, we usually are fond of using a 390g can of Sweetened Condensed Milk and approximately 1 Tablespoon of Golden Syrup along with the butter. I'll definitely try the brown sugar method next time. The rest of the recipe is identical :)
