I made this today and it was delicious. The only things I did differently is I didn't flour the meat and I added a 14.5 ounce can of beef broth and thickened at the end with corn starch. I wanted more gravy for left overs. Will cook again.

This was simply delicious. After reading other comments I decided to braise the meat before putting it into the slow cooker. I bought a 3lb chuck roast and slow cooked it for7 hrs. It was perfect and fell apart when done. When mixing the dry ingredients together I used a little over a 1/2 cup red wine for the liquid. The gravy came out rich and hardy. Wonderful recipe. I will do it again soon.

The meat wasn't as tender as I had hoped but the taste was awesome. Those flavors turned out great together. I will make again but on the stove next time.

THE "AWESOME SLOW COOKER POT ROAST" WAS MUCH, MUCH BETTER. AND YES, I DID BROWN THE MEAT FIRST, AS WELL AS CUT THE MEAT INTO BIG CHUNKS, REMOVING AS MUCH FAT AS POSSIBLE. THIS 'AWESOME' RECIPE IS THE BEST!

I was surprised this wasn't browned first. It does help with flavor and moistness.

I always brown my meats before putting in a slow cooker, or pressure cooker....Much more flavor, and it locks the juices in.

wonder if browning the roast before putting it in the slow cooker would make it better
