I made these last night. I was so excited to bring some "good old boy" stuff to a less than company Christmas party. Long story short, I babied them for the 30 minutes and I took out a sea of grease. I had to throw out the whole batch, it was horrible, greasy,and inedible.

Monette, both the video above and the written recipe say "bake for 40 minutes", not 30. In any case, I would drain and/or pat the grease off before plating them.

When I make these I bake them on a rack. The grease drains off and they are crunchy and chewy and salty and sweet and we love them. Also, I sometimes baste them with a mix of brown sugar and pure maple syrup. Oh, I think I have to go make some right now!
