Video: Tomato Dirt Salad

See how to make a fresh tomato, mushroom, and mozzarella salad.

Watch Chef John make a fresh, fun tomato salad. Finely chopped mushrooms are sautéed in a little olive oil until they become earthy tasting (and looking). Then it’s time for the real fake dirt component…dark rye bread. You’ll crumb the bread in a food processor and then add the crumbs to the mushrooms, toasting them until they’re nice and crisp. Serve the “dirt” over slices of gorgeous vine-ripened tomatoes and fresh mozzarella drizzled with a very simple white wine vinegar and olive oil dressing. Scatter some fresh basil over the tomatoes. It’s a fun and delicious way to use up the last of the fresh, sweet summer tomatoes. And who knows, the kids might even like it. See more Chef John videos >>

I'm at work, between classes, on the road, whatever - and I'd like to send a print command to my computer so when I get home it automatically prints and I DON'T forget about it. You have some GREAT recipes, and the videos are great, even entertaining, when I have time to watch them but having a direct link to a recipe I can print would sure be useful.

I DO watch the video. I rather like Chef John's comments as he goes on with his cooking. I do what Steven does, but still I do wish there were written instructions. I think Grammy Sharyn, that you need the two, because the video is often more explicit.

I simply LOVE the videos. Don't let those people hurt your feelings Chef, if they can say they never forgot anything in their lifetime, then so be it. I just watch it again pausing the video as I go, write down the instructions on paper, and file it. How hard was that!!

Um ... I don't think I need to be rude about it, but a quick, direct link to the recipe would be appreciated. I'm really not interested in watching the video (I seldom watch them). Thanks.
