Black Magic Cake

See how to make one of the moistest cakes around—and one of the spookiest. Black Magic Cake gets its unique color (and a caffeine boost) from a surprising liquid ingredient. Watch the video to see the best way to add the liquid ingredients to the dry ones. This cake requires buttermilk; if you don't have it on hand, the video tells you an easy way to make it using white vinegar and (you guessed it!) milk. This extra-dark cake is a favorite at Halloween, but it's so tasty you'll find other days to make it. An easy from-scratch cake, it's ready in 1 hour! Watch the video, then get the recipe for Black Magic Cake.

I cooked this cake for recent celebration and I have to say that I could feel the soda and our family didn't like the soda at all. I loved the taste of the ccake except the soda part. Next time I am going to try without soda.

had to laugh when I saw this recipe listed because this Black Magic Cake used to be on the back of Hershey's Cocoa container when I was a kid (a LONG time ago!) Fortuneately I had written it into my recipe book I got as a wedding shower gift 39 years ago! It is an AWESOME recipe!
