Great recipe. The only things I would add is fresh green beans. Some salt and maybe some garlic powder to the dumplings also. The only complaint from my family was that the dumplings were a bit bland as per the recipe.

You can also use Bisquick mix to make the dumplings! Kids actually enjoy this dish!

Great recipe as should be for this classic. CHICKEN & STUFFED DUMPLINGS; I make this in the same basic order often in winter and sometimes fill the dumplings with my favorite cheeses (cheddar, pepper-jack, parmesan) mixed with pre-steamed grated carrots, garlic and beet with a touch of celantro, salt and cumin, prior to laying in the pot. Try it, you'll love the zest, texture and added flavor. It's like the best flavor of all worlds. Use minimal water in your steamer to start with, and add the post-steamed residue to the finished stock.
