I used whole plum tomatoes...crushed in a bowl by hand. Salt, pepper, red pepper fakes, fresh basil, just a hint of dried oregano...and olive oil. That's it!

l was lucky enough to marry an Italian and my mother-in-law passed on many cooking tips. Garlic is not really used a lot in my pasta sauces...or in this case...pizza sauce. I think this sauce is way too thin. l use tomato paste, basil, oregano, rosemary, sage and just enough water to make a spreading consistency.

In my opinion, pizza sauce is only made of tomato sauce, maybe a bit of salt and a bit of oil (not half a liter). Garlic has nothing to do with pizza in my opinion. I do not put any spices either. Spices are added depending on the way you season your pizza. If you put parsley or oregan in the sauce you will cover other tastes that come with the toppings. Pizza sauce is easy because you do not have to "make it" :)
