I've made this before and to get the crispiness, just chunk it up and throw it on a cookie sheet under the broiler for a few minutes.

Good basic recipe but if you want the crispiness of carnitas you can season them to taste and fry them in hot olive oil. The key is to get the oil hot before you put them in so it doesn't just soak up the oil. It's best to do a handful at a time to get them crisp.

Yes, lard is bad.... Like bacon, etc that hv the same fat... But u can use other oil... If not ... They r not carnitas... Anyway... A balanced diet n right portion r always part of a healthy life...

For real carnitas you need to replace the broth with lard.

I agree with Bennybbc, carnitas are supposed to be crispy. Not bad but it is missing something like the crispiness of carnitas.

Carnitas are supposed to be a little crispy. To turn this braised pork into actual carnitas, after coarsely shredding, fry the pork in some oil, preferably lard, to be authentic. However, any oil will do. Without the browning/crisping, this is just a recipe for seasoned braised pork, not carnitas.

spices on video look like a lot more than what they're calling for. Sounds good though.
