A properly prepared cake pan is one of the easily overlooked keys to successful baking. After all that work making a cake, the last thing you want is for the cake to cling to the baking pan when you go to turn it out. With a properly prepared pan, your cake will slide out easily with smooth, clean edges. In this video, you’ll learn how to prepare a cake pan with oil, softened butter, or shortening. You’ll learn the right time to grease your pan and why some cakes don’t need a greased pan. You’ll see why a pastry brush is the tool of choice for greasing the pan and see the benefits of dusting it slightly with flour or sifted cocoa powder. You’ll also learn an alternate method for “greasing” your pan using nothing but parchment paper, and get a great tip for keeping the parchment in place at the bottom of the cake pan. You can even use powder sugar! Beleive, that!!! My husband made, brownies once! And, I had told him do not! forget!!! to flour, the pan! Other wise they will stick! to the bottom of the pan." Well get what, in reply he say's... "I don't want to use flour" that make's them crusty and yucky... on the bottom! I just looked at him and laughed! and shook my head. Ans, said what... ever! But, he did use the powder sugar instead! And, he was right!!! The brownies turned out really good! I was amazed!!! I thought for sure they would burn! But, they didn't, and they didn't have all that yucky! crusty stuff all over them! lol. I wouldn't recomend,Coco either! it is very bitter! especially the dark.

When I bake a cake I add 1-2 tlbs. cake mix to the pan instead of flour, don't have to worry about brushing off the flour. It's just cake on cake.

Is it just me or did that cake look like it stuck to the sides???

I would NEVER recommend dusting Cocoa instead of Flour! Cocoa is messy and stains...It was a mess!
