Tasted great but since I like some heat, I added 6 chopped jalapeño peppers. Very good!

To the person who asked if you had to use onions... Either way... For the recipe as a whole, alleviate adding the onion POWDER if you're going to use the diced onions in it. 2ndly...a sweet Vidalia onion is a preference for me, not a yellow or white onion. 3rdly...by all means, use fresh potatoes if you've got time. Red skin are nice for flavor, and for some added color/presentation as well. And for the one who can't tolerate onions at all, you'll need some flavor, so use some a mix of some sweet red/orange bell peppers or green if you prefer that taste. Making the dish the night before is only a time saver if it's needed, but there is no merit at all to have the dish "soak" overnight like other casseroles that use bread/etc.

good tasting but to up the flavor fold 8 oz of sour cream and a can of Campbell cheddar cheese sauce to the hash browns at the start
