This is my go to recipe for non refried beans. My son and I have this dish at least every two weeks. The seasonings give it all the rich flavor you need,But without the calories. Even with no salt as I prefer low sodium, you can always season to your tastes. Thank you Chef Claude!!

@Heidi: According to this nutrition calculator, the whole batch will have the following characteristics (maybe slightly less, since you don't use all the cooking liquid): Calories: 2110 Carbs: 385 Fat: 7 Protein: 126 Sodium: 11708 Sugar: 18 I imagine carbs, fat, protein, and sugar are given in grams, and sodium is milligrams, though the calculator gives unitless values. The recipe does not give a suggested serving amount - maybe just figure out how much you can eat based on the amount of carbs you're allowed?

Mike wrote that he freezes leftover bean. I along with Fred's comment, what would be the max time on freezing them? Or to be canned?

I have a question. Are the extra servings freezable? I live alone and can eat only so many refried beans, at a time.
