You would think barbecue was a religion! I have a crock pot AND a life so this is exactly the sort of recipe I would go for. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds wonderful. And by the way - I am from Texas and I do own a wood smoker. I just don't always have the time to stand around all day tending the fire box.

Well, I don't know about you folks, but, this receipe is called "Texas Pulled Pork" by the author....NOT "Texas BBQ Pulled Pork", so I don't think the snide rmarks are necessary. I've been looking for a receipe just like this. I like Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce, my hubby likes his sauce a lot more spicy my daughter likes the pork flavor more "natural"....so...this receipe is perfect for families like ours who have different tastes. Try to read the receipe before you comment, please!

No smoker = No BBQ. Not to mention you need to wrap that meat up with some spices for a few days and place in the refrig. Try this site out for some tips if you are considering(please do not) slow cooker BBQ. http://www.ncbbqsociety.com/ Emeril also has an excellent vinegar based BBQ sauce that is terrific.

also check out his Delta coleslaw which is also vinegar based. Our Family/Friends love this!

If you put the pork in last, it will make it a lot easier to mix everything else.

I think PP is not secluded to just Carolina..and even tho' the recipe is not smoked it is a fair alternative to cooking pork OR beef in this method. Being a Texan..we appreciate different methods of cooking. Not EVERYONE in Texas owns a smoker and/or wood fire.Low and slow is what a crock pot or slow cooker does..the oven works as well. My uncle cooked his brisket in the oven for 18-24 hours on LOW heat and everyone went crazy over it. The only thing ' lame' is your review.
