I just made this for a dinner party and it was a huge hit. It was excellent. The butter sugar mixture did not dissolve, but it still worked just fine, once I added the Mountain Dew. I think I might use a little less sugar the next time. Someone's comment about adding pecans sounds like a good idea too. How about some raisins?! I'll definitely make this again.

Caseyhog--love your comment about Mt. Dew, the highest sugar content in soft drinks and a dentist told me that he can look at a person's teeth and tell that they drink Mt. Dew because it also takes the enamel off teeth!

I prefer these made with SPRITE instead of the Mt. Dew. Not a fan of Mt. Dew. **Remember to never use a Diet drink (at high temps diet drinks aren't chemically stable)** This really is a great recipe!!

My recipe is a little different. Instead of 1 1/2 cups of white sugar, I use 1 cup of regular white sugar and 1/2 cup of brown sugar. I also use 1 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon. The rest is the same......Im thinking about kicking it up another notch by adding a few pecans. Folks this recipes is heavenly and I promise everyone will want it.
