See how to turn sweet summer fruit into amazing shortbread treats. In this video, Chef John reveals his secret borderline-exotic spice ingredient. He also shows you how to cut first the butter into the flour and then the egg yolk into the flour and butter mixture. The shortbread comes out of the oven crisp and crumbly and the fresh blueberries are soft, sweet, and simply sensational. Check out Chef John's recipe for Blueberry Shortbread Bars. If you prefer, you can skip the blueberries and use sliced peaches, apricots, blackberries, or other ripe summer fruits instead. See more Chef John videos >>

I made these for my daughter's wedding dessert buffet. I even bought a pastry cutter to make sure that shortbread was good. I have to say that this recipe was only ok and did not really freeze well.

It would be great to be able to save these video links on our profile. I can share them on ChefKey but to have them in my Recipe Box here would be great too. I like the one egg yolk added to the crumble!

Sounds delicious, but I have a quick question - would I be able to use frozen blueberries? Would they be too moist? My frozen blueberries have no ice on them, just nice clean blueberries.
