I have made a near match to this recipe shared by a friend over 30 years ago! Mine calls for all white sugar no brown, But I will give it a try:) It is always a huge hit. Freezes nice too and is great to have in reserve. The main difference is my recipe has you cover the apples as much as you can with the flour mixture and save the butter to drizzle over the top before baking, use about 1/3-1/2 cup. then sprinkle with a little sugar and smidge of cinnamon. Makes a beautiful crispy crust where the butter didn't get drizzled and a tender one where it did. Its the best!
