My family really enjoyed this dish. I do agree that it should be marinated overnight. I FOLLOWED Island girl suggestions and was very pleased with the end results.

This is an ok basic recipe with a few tweaks: 1) For more flavorful chicken, I suggest adding 1/4 finely chopped green onions, and marinading the chicken in sauce overnight in the refrigerator (I would suggest doubling the sauce to do this). 2) Then, while your chicken is baking make FRESH sauce to brush on top (reserve some before hand if you want want dipping sauce). 3)Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds before serving. Enjoy!

The only thing wrong is the application of sauce to the chicken. The sauce you apply to the raw chicken, should be in a separate dish so you don't contaminate the rest of the sauce. By using only one dish of sauce, you are going to apply contaminated sauce to cooked chicken.

Kedi - Teriyaki is a cooking method, not a sauce although there is bottled "cooking sauce" aka "teriyaki sauce" available in the markets. With this recipe you are actually making "teriyaki sauce" from scratch which is by far better than the bottled stuff.
