The batter was easy to roll out and a perfect consistency for cookie cutting and decorating. The cookies look beautiful, but unfortunately the taste leaves something to be desired. The bitter taste of 2 teaspoons of baking powder is overpowering, even with sweet icing and sprinkles. We bake a lot, followed the recipe very carefully, and were disappointed not to taste the sweet buttery goodness of a sugar cookie.

These cookies are great! I have been looking for a great sugar cookie recipe and this one definitely hits the spot. The dough was moist enough to roll out. Sprinkle with flour as you go along and then they easily cut out. I also live at low altitude and looking at some of the other comments, this could be a factor. Taste was amazing and icing spruced them up perfectly. I added 1/4 teaspoon if lemon extract instead of almond extract. Overall perfect for any occasion:)

These cookes turned out awful. I followed everything on here. Including the view of the video. I am a baker-this turned out disgusting. The dough was dry, crumby, and the cookies didn't taste like anything. I think you were wrong with th eggs, and flour measurements.

Does anyone know how to make the sugar cookies that are thick almost cake like? I was told it had something to do with using buttermilk.

I've made this once at low altitude, and it came out perfectly. But when I made it at high altitude, the dough wasn't exactly friendly. So I am going to try it again with the suggestion below (using 2 1/2 cups of flower) to see if it doesn't yeild a more pliable cookie.
