In this video, you’ll see how to make the great American burger dog. It’s really so much more than just a hotdog-shaped burger. Discover the groundbreaking technique for seasoning your burger dog from the inside out! Not only delicious, the burger dog is also the most fun you’re legally allowed to have with grilled foods. But it’s not all fun and games; the shape of the burger actually helps develop an incredible grilled crust that covers the whole surface of the burger, and the proportions between meat, cheese, and bun are near perfect. I have been making these for years, I make them smaller(who really needs all that fat in half a lb. of meat). I use lawery salt and freshly gr. pepp.. I also use reg. size buns. I love Chef John to death but wonder why he drags his words kind of like a Valley Girl.

Sounds great. I would use garlic powder instead of salt. Also add some chopped spinach red/green bell peppers to the hamburger before cooking and grilled onions on toasted bun.

I've made these before....the first time was because we had run out of hamburger buns but had hotdog buns leftover (but not hotdogs). Remembering our parents saying "waste not, want not" the our burgerdogs were invented in our house! LOL!!! Delicious! But I must have mustard....can't have a "dog" with out mustard! And I like Monteray Jack. Of course at our house, everyone puts their favorite condiments and everyone is happy!!!
