I've eaten this dressing 57 years---it's exactly what my mother made (minus the garlic powder). I make it at least three times a year--thanksgiving Christmas and Easter If you use cornbread instead of the white bread you are making something **completely** different. I don't care at all for cornbread dressing but this stuff is one of my favorite foods

I agree with David...I would never use purchased cornbread as it is easy to make and I always do....I am vegetarian so I use veggie broth rather than the chicken/turkey. We love my dressing and our guest don't even know that it is vegetarian.

I consider myself an old fashion cook. making my meals the way my grandmother did and there is two things about making this stuffing or dressing i do not do the same way. First off is I do not use store bought bread. I use homemade baked cornbread. Second thing is I do not use a spoon to mix it. i use my hands.
