I like to boil the potatoes, then put them in the fridge until they are cold, then add the condiments. And you can boil the eggs with the potatoes to save dirty pots. I use this method when I can't finish the salad right away, and b/ c you can't blend mayo with anything still hot. Another variation of this is to use either French or Catalina dressing with mayo. This was my mom's idea.

This is exactly how I've always made my (my mother's) potato salad. As far as peeling eggs, I agree with Yogesh & Patricia...use 2 week old eggs, but the simplest way to peel and doesn't involve another utensil would be to simply pour off the hot water, cool a bit with cold water, pour that off and place the lid back on the pan and shake the eggs right in the pan...some of the shells will come off by themselves...very simple!

This sounds good to me, minus the garlic powder. It's important to add the other ingredients to the potatoes while they're still hot (as the video shows). That way, the potatoes absorb the flavors much better.

Love potato salad! I make mine the same as this EXCEPT (1) I prepare the potatoes the day before and chill. Day#2 is when they get chopped up. (2). Makes more sense to me to prepare the dressing separately (mustard, mayo, etc.), then pour it over the cut-up potatoes and mix.

So like my Mom's without mustard. I like this recipe but like a recipe without mayo better; like a vinegar/sugar/ oil mustard the German warm potato salad best. See recipes on line. Yum

add some left over mashed potatos to the eggs, season and whip, then stuff the egg whites-,delissh

I would just make three points: 1. Choose eggs that are two weeks old. It will make peeling the eggs much easier. 2. I think Idaho Baking potatoes work much better. 3. Use Hellman's real mayo, adds to texture.

Way too many chunky vegetables and potatoes too chunky for me. I like smooth potatoes. Also I add a dash of cayenne pepper for a little kick and since my hubby does not like the sweet relish. I use dill.

German Potato Salad is made with onions, vinegar, sugar and bacon. When at picnic it doesn't need to be keep cold

after hard boiling the eggs and cooling/or not, place in quart jar with 3/4 full water and lid and shake hard. The shells will slide off easily.
