Chinese Tea Leaf Eggs

Submitted by: SOYGIRL2
One of my favorite dishes when I head back home; it combines hard-boiled eggs with the subtle flavor of anise and the deep brown hues of black tea and soy. The cracked patterns from the broken shells make these quite attractive! I eat these sliced in quarters and chilled as a side dish, appetizer, or snack. Recipe courtesy of Mom.

Lumpia (Shanghai version)

A recipe I know all Filipinos are proud of! Lumpia (shanghai type) is a type of egg roll, except it's mainly filled with meat. You could use pork or beef or both! It's a yummy recipe and great to serve as finger food. I like to use both beef and pork but you can substitute one for the other. VERY EASY!

I created this sauce in my own kitchen with ingredients I already had in my cupboard. The results are delicious and it has become a staple in my home. This recipe can easily be doubled. Try using it for dipping katsu chicken and egg rolls, or use it as a substitute for barbeque sauce. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

I've seen a lot of recipes for this soup; however, my mother-in-law adds tomato paste for a bit of a different flavour and she doesn't add any lentils or beans. It's thick, filling, and delicious, and you could make it vegetarian by using vegetable stock.
