This fideo recipe was given to me by my mother in-law. Fideo pasta is toasted, then simmered in a tomato sauce seasoned with cumin and chili powder. It goes great with any meat dish including carne asada. I use this recipe in place of rice as my side dish.

This super-easy side dish utilizes the bounty of late summer and is the perfect companion to whatever you are grilling - in fact, the stove can be turned on while the meat is resting from the grill. The sweet acidity of the berries balances the entire meal, and the fresh oregano brings out the best of both the berries and the beans. It's a beautiful, unusual side dish that leaves guests, and even finicky family, raving.

This is a light and garlicky spaghetti sauce. This is delicious and easy to prepare! A variation on the original garlic spaghetti. I like to serve it with a glass of red wine. My husband's favorite! Serve with a heated sourdough baguette and dip in 6 tablespoons olive oil and 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar if desired.
