Hot Spiced Cider

This traditional holiday drink is indispensable to those who covet the ubiquitous fireside family gatherings on cold winter evenings. This recipe uses an automatic coffee maker to brew the cider. If you don't own one, heat it in a saucepan over medium heat on the stovetop. Grab your mugs and dive into this hot drink!

This is the signature drink at my in-law's home. My father-in-law developed a taste for margaritas made from scratch during the summer they spent in Zihuatanejo during the 1960s. After decades of tinkering he has arrived at this foolproof recipe for the ultimate Mexican cocktail.

Sometimes coffee is a dessert in itself. This is one of my favorite morning treats to make a Monday seem less intimidating. You'll need a battery-powered milk frother or it's just not the same.

This is a quick and easy milkshake I created a few years back while I was bartending to serve the children that ate in the restaurant - their parents loved it just as much! This is a very versatile recipe. You can change the flavor of ice cream to create any flavor milkshake you'd like.

Tonja was born in the 1940's and this is her cousin Toni's boyfriend's grandmother's eggnog, so I'm guessing this is from the mid-1800's and probably dates much earlier. The original recipe called for half milk and half cream, but I use half and half. Delicious and simple, but be warned, Granny apparently liked a kick! I've made it from scratch and with the modern equivalents and it's fantastic either way. Do yourself a favor and use a mixer for everything. Those who like eggnog LOVE this recipe. I never leave a party with leftovers.

Traditional sangria is made with red wine and fruit--this version is spiked with sour apple schnapps and rum, and uses strawberries, grapes and lime.
