This is a great recipe! The cake turns out moist and delicious! I made only two changes: (1) increased the cocoa powder to 1/2 C and (2) made it in a 9" round cake pan. It was done in 30 minutes. I didn't have to make any adjustments for the high altitude. One friend says this is her new favorite chocolate cake recipe....it's a keeper!

I loved this recipe and have made it several times. I took it to a baby shower and it was gone in no time!! I made only one change and that was adding 1/3 cup cocoa powder. I tried my hand at vegan frosting. I mixed raspberry (seedless) jam, soy (stick) margarine & powdered sugar frosting. I thought it complemented it well. I decorated with some berries.

Gave this five stars for its simplicity and downright goodness! I followed the recipe exactly, but with a smidgen more cocoa, and used the excellent icing provided in KAD's review. Was eaten the next day to rave reviews, most couldn't believe it was vegan! The only thing I'll do different next time is make 2!

Just as Sue said, a simple, yet very tasty cake. I love it! I made it exactly as directed and it worked out beautifully. I frosted it with a chocolate frosting (a bit of margarine, vanilla extract, corn syrup, some cocoa, and added icing sugar till the right consistency). This will be my go-to recipe for a simple quick chocolate cake (and we're not vegan either)!

Was thrilled to find this cake! I have a vegan daughter and her birthday is TODAY I found this last night and made it for her birthday today. WONDERFUL cake - moist and delicious. As good or better than non vegan cakes, I think. Next time I may just add chocolate chips too. Ghirardelli semi sweet chips are vegan. I used a heaping 1/3 cup of cocoa cause I wanted it chocolate-y. I cut the baking soda to 3/4 tsp and used 1/2 c water and 1/2 c soy milk. I frosted it with storebought white icing - many brands are vegan, just read the labels to be sure. GREAT and I will be making this again, soon.

This is a great recipie. My son goes to an Orthodox school and they eliminate dairy products during certian fasting times. So this year the kids actually got to eat cake at christmas!

This cake is delicious. It is not very sweet which is a good thing because of the super sweet icing I put on it. Everyone I have given this to has loved it and couldn't tell it was vegan.

This recipe is fantastic!!! This is the only chocolate cake recipe I ever use. I was sad when I first became vegan not to be able to go to a regular store and buy some chocolate anything, now this definitely fills my chocolate wants!!

this recipe turned out great! I only gave this recipe four stars because I had to up the cocoa powder to 1/3 of a cup. I'm not vegan, so I drizzled buttercream frosting on it which made it look really nice. I baked this in a loaf pan and it only took about 40 minutes. I made this for friends when I had no eggs on hand. This is a keeper.

Very nice, moist and almost melt-in-your-mouth! Right out from the oven, it was crunchy outside but soft inside (I'm not very patient, i have to sample my cake ^^), but let it cool completely and everything was even more delicious...

Made these in cupcake form. Really good, but they definitely won't trick anyone looking for a real chocolate cake fix. All my vegan and vegetarian friends loved them at a party. I'll make these again for sure.

Amazing! Our son is allergic to eggs, so gave this recipe a shot. Super easy and delicious!! EVERYONE loved them and asked for the recipe, and were shocked that they were vegan. We made as cupcakes (bake for 25 min)
