Adding the ground turkey makes this a very hearty side dish. Definitely some good, lowfat protein for my athlete sons! Most ground turkey comes packaged at more than a pound, usually about 1.25 so you might not want to use it all to get the ratio right. I used a 28 oz. can of baked beans as well to up the ratio of beans to meat. I was tempted to add some chili powder and cumin since it was reminding me very much of chili as I was making it but followed the recipe as written and it was good. I love the addition of the kidney and black beans.
