Trout Chowder Recipe Reviews - Allrecipes.com (Pg. 1)

I'm not sure if I did something wrong, but I pretty much followed the directions as written (used fresh broccoli that I steamed a bit instead of frozen). The taste of my finished soup was okay, but the texture was unpleasant. I used regular cheeses, but they did not go into a smooth paste, but more of a congealed mess.

I made this chowder following the directions and it was really tasty, not too fishy at all! I live on the gulf coast so I used speckled trout, not rainbow trout. Very simple and quick to put together.

OMGOSH, THIS WAS SO GOOD!! WE GOT A CANNED JAR OF TROUT FOR CHRISTMAS AND I WAS LOOKING FOR A RECIPE TO USE IT. THIS IS IT.. I WANT IT AGAIN. THE HUBBY LOVED IT. VERY, VERY GOOD. THANKS

I loved the idea of a slow cooker. Didn't have any dressing, so I substituted 1/2 & 1/2. I added potatoes, bacon, canned oysters & shrimp.

I used left over trout and it turned out pretty good. I added potatoes and it seemed to make it less fishy.

My husband made this using fresh smoked trout. Had to use Mozzarella in place of cheddar cheese and left out the broccoli because we didn't have any on hand. It would have probably been better had he followed the recipe more closely.
