I just made homemade bread for the first time, as I'm new at learning homemade recipes - and this turned out wonderfully! I don't have lard, so I used butter. I also halved the recipe & only own a small loaf pan, so I used the extra dough to make a big roll on a pizza pan. I just got them out of the oven and can't stop eating the warm, chewy goodness :-) With the sweet taste, I don't know that I'd used this for sandwiches, but I believe they'd make great rolls (or even breadsticks), and I will try that next time.
