"Okay, so I'm obviously a fan of Doctor Who (and his Timey-Wimey device), but there is thyme involved! And cheese, and all of my recipe guinea pigs love it, so I hope you do, too!"

Original recipe makes 2 slices Change Servings

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Whisk melted butter and milk together with a fork. Soak the bread slices in the milk mixture, turning to cover both sides completely. Sprinkle half of the thyme over one side of the bread pieces.
  3. Heat a dry skillet over medium-low heat, and fry the bread, thyme-side down, until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle the remaining thyme over the bread; turn over and fry until lightly browned, about 5 minutes more. Transfer to a baking sheet; sprinkle with the Cheddar cheese.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until the cheese is bubbly, about 10 minutes. Remove and serve immediately with salt and cracked pepper.

Yummy. I had a mexican blend cheese in fridge so I used that. Will make again. Nice savory breakfast

This was REALLY tasty. The only change I would make the next time I made it was to put more cheese on top. Since you aren't pouring syrup or anything over it, I thought it could use a bit more. I definitely will be making this again in the future.
