I want to start out by saying that I am a very experienced baker. I bring gourmet cupcakes and cookies to my choir and orchestra practices for my friends all the time. This recipe should've been a cinch for me, but it turned into such a disaster that I didn't even get to bake a single cookie. I couldn't roll the dough after it was refrigerated, no matter how much powdered sugar or flour I added. It's not like I live in a hot place...there is ten inches of snow outside my door right now. I tried to add extra flour to the dough to firm it up a little, and it ended up becoming totally flaky while somehow still managing to stick to the surface of my counter through the layer of flour I'd laid down to roll it onto. I was trying to make large heart shaped cookies for the cast of a musical I'm playing in, since it opens tomorrow, and I ended up throwing away all the dough instead of continuing to fight with it. I wasted all the ingredients it took to make this, a ton of powdered sugar, and a lot of excess flour.
If you are looking for a good cutout recipe, this one definitely won't be it. I tasted a little bit of the dough and it wasn't sweet at all. I was hoping that with frosting and colored sugar on top, they would be okay, but I'm getting the idea from other reviews that they would've been terrible and probably ruined my reputation as a great baker.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR INGREDIENTS ON THIS DISASTER OF A RECIPE.
