  1. In large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray, cook bread over medium-high heat for 2 to 3 minutes or until lightly toasted, turning once. Remove from skillet. Set aside.
  2. Add oil to same skillet. Brush oil over skillet bottom. Add onion. Cook, covered, over medium-low heat for 15 to 18 minutes or until onion is very tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in garlic. Cook over medium heat, covered, for 4 to 6 minutes or until onion begins to brown, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
  3. Meanwhile, cook veggie burger according to package directions. Top one slice of toast with burger. Sprinkle with pepper. Add onion mixture, tomato, salad dressing and remaining toast.

Great way to spruce up a veggie burger! I added some light cheddar cheese and some shredded lettuce - perfect for lunch!

This recipe was okay. It was not awful, but not great either.

Very good burger! This is a great recipe if you want something a little different from the same ol’ meat and bun. I am giving it 5 stars because it was really good- and I didn't follow as is so it wouldn't be fair not to ;) And plus you know whever there is complete silence whenever one is eating that's a good sign! What I did was: I used ground beef and mixed in some A1 Steak Sauce, and Lawyr’s Seasoning Salt (Do NOT add any salt- they will be waaaayyy too salty) then diced up Jalapenos and Bacon (can you tell I’m cooking for 4 hungry guys? lol) I then caramelized the onion- next time Ill throw in some mushroom with it, and served it on garlic bread after having the BF throw them on the grill and topping them with cheddar cheese. I cut mine into 3 pieces, I put Ranch on piece, Ketchup on the other, and BBQ sauce on the last- I don't know which was the best- they were all great! This is a great basic recipe that you can turn into many different things- thanks for the inspiration!

Sooo good but i did make a few changes and it tasted better the next day I added some green peppers and garlic to my carmelized onions with a pinch of thyme and sea salt and a little sharp cheddar went a long way !!!!!!

I wanted to try something American, so I made this. No alterations. The picky boyfriend was skeptical at first, but he chowed along happily after the first bite.
