Tater Tot Casserole Recipe Reviews - Allrecipes.com (Pg. 10)
Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
I had to improvise a bit with this recipe. I didn't have tater tots so I used a can of diced potatoes and I used ground turkey instead of beef. I also threw in a bag of mixed veggies. I used both the ketchup and worcestershire sauce. I used about 1/2 tsp onion powder instead of real onion and I added 1 tsp garlic powder and 1 tsp seasoned salt. Topped with cheddar cheese and baked for about 20 minutes. Turned out great.

Yum! This recipe is a fantastic, quick dinner that can be modified in dozens of ways. I followed the advice of previous reviewers and swapped hot sauce for ketchup, then because I didn't have any Worcestershire sauce, I used between 1/4 and 1/2 cup of cooking sherry. I also added a few handfuls of peas, and shredded cheese over the top. I'll definitely make this again, and will continue to experiment. Great recipe!

I followed the advice of a lot of people on here and put the tater tots over the whole thing and added cheese. It's also yummy to serve it with ketchup and mustard and pickle slices.

Good starting point - Used a can of mixed veggies (drained) and mixed a packet of stroganoff mix and a bit of water when I browned the burger. I skipped the ketchup, added a lot of tots on top and cooked ~ 40 minutes then topped with some shredded cheese and melted for a few minutes - my family liked it and so did I!

Good old tater tot casserole just as I remember it from childhood. My only addition is to add green beans to it so it is a complete meal.

I added mixed peas and carrots to the beef mixture and topped with shredded cheddar cheese the last few minutes. I used a whole large bag of tater tots and cooked about 40 minutes so they could get crispy. Great recipe.
