Following the recipe as given, it was okay (three stars), good enough that I wanted to try it again. The second time I made it, I totally skipped the tortilla chips, and added layers of salsa (16 oz.) and a small can of green chiles, and a liberal sprinkling of Tabasco Chipotle Sauce. Also, I used three of the crescents on top. Liked it way better (four stars) that time.

This recipe is awesome. I have two very picky eaters at home and they always go back for thirds when I make this dish!! I tweaked the recipe a bit by mixing in a can of refried beans and a can of corn and use a cresent roll on top instead of chips. It is amazing. Thanks for the recipe!

This was really a great recipe; I learned the hard way that not all queso blanco melts... I am a total beginner, and tried to improvise. I'm sure my pie would have been infinitely better if I'd used the cheese in the recipe! Regardless, my husband and dad still loved it :)

This was pretty good. It actually tasted better re-heated the next day in my opinion!

This turned out fantastic! I added diced green chilis, onion, and Rotel to the ground beef and taco seasoning. I pre-baked the crescent roll crust for 10 minutes (prior to adding the meat and cheese). After pre-baking, I added a thin layer of refried beans on top of the hot crust, then layered the meat, sour cream, and cheese. For the top, I crushed up Nacho Cheese Doritos. After baking, I topped with diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and (just for the hubby)diced black olives. Salsa was served on the side. My husband said this was now his new favorite dish. The only thing I would change up would be to add hot diced green chilis instead of mild.

I read most of the reviews and tweaked the recipe as follows: I made two 8x8 pies using Pillsbury pizza dough (half in each pan) instead of the crescent rolls baked until light brown then I browned the hamburger meat, drained the fat and added 1 can of drained Mild Rotel, garlic salt and pepper to the meat. I layered refried beans, meat mixture, black olives, Medium Pace Picante salsa, cheese then crushed chips. It turned out great - very tasty!

This was delicious! I've made variations of this recipe before, but this is the best one I've come across. After reading others' reviews, I did put a can of refried beans on top and cut back on the sour cream by half, then I just eyeballed the amount of tortilla chips on top-maybe used 1 1/2 cups total. Also, for the taco seasoning, I used the "Bill Echols" recipe featured on this website-it lets me control the salt without compromising flavor.
