I have been eating these treats for about 40 years, and I have to agree with "Naples34102". They can be bland. And what I do to prevent this, is add the potatoes and the salt at the same time, while the water is at a full boil. The rest of the recipe is the same. Be sure to have plenty of melted butter on hand. Those of you who live in upstate NY should relish this treat...you can't get in any where else, unles you do it yourself. And there are no kits outside of that area. I'm giving this recilpe 4 stars, only because I think adding the salt with the potatoes makes them salter, and more deserving of 5. Oh, and I prefer sea salt, or kosher salt over the "fine" salt called for. Just my preferance.
