Made these for a diabetic friend...I hate sugar substitute & initially didn't plan on even tasting them to see if they came out well...Well I ended up saving half the pan for myself & my family!! They are INCREDIBLY delicious and I couldn't taste the Splenda. I used the granulated Splenda, and I agree with others I think you could absolutely get away with 1/4 cup instead. As for other reviews about not being low calorie enough - nobody likes a diet cookie that tastes yucky. These are certainly a GREAT alternative to some 500 calorie chocolately fudge dessert. Will make again & again.

I have been looking for sugar free recipes to use for a bake sale. Only changes I made were to use Kroger "Brown Baking Sweetener" as the sugar substitute and increased the vanilla to 1/2 tsp. I did use 1/2 cup of the brown sugar substitute and did not think it was too sweet. Very moist and reminds me of applesauce cake. I will make this again.

I substituted bing cherries for the raisins and it was awesome. I also sprinkled semi sweet chocolate chips on half of it before baking. Was very good both ways.

recipe works out very well and is very easy and simple. However I cut the amount of sweetener and it was still too much. Common with many recipes on here though. Good one for sure though

It was a nice chewy bar. Doesn't taste good warm, but even my husband liked it cold. I won't make them too often, because they are 115 calories. Liked them a lot though!

I made this recipe for a diabetic elderly friend for a Christmas treat and before giving it to him I tasted the bars and thought they were on the bland side. However, I don't eat a whole lot of sugar free stuff (aside from the cookies/drinks sold in stores) so that may be why I didn't like it. The bars were very moist and came out great as far as consistency and appearance. I chopped walnuts and spread those on half of the batch which was a nice added touch. If I did it again I would put them on the whole thing. The elderly friend I gave them to claimed they were great, but he could've just been polite!

This recipe is not sugar free! It is only "no sugar added". There is quite a bit of natural sugar in the raisins, so please take that into consideration if you want to eat more than one small piece at a time.
