AWFUL. Not even close to enough flour, bland, and a NIGHTMARE. To save time, just throw directly away.

These taste great with a little tweaking. The dough should be rolled out a little thicker. Keep in mind these cookies do not puff up much at all so what you see when you roll and then again when you cut is what you will essentially get. Also, I added more candied cherries to the pink layer and also peppermint extract and hazlenuts were used in my green layer (pistachios would be best) to the green layer and it gave them a really great taste with a very festive christmassy bite. (Make sure your nuts are finely chopped or else it's difficult to keep the dough together when kneading in the color and then rolling. I would definitely make these again! The look alone is worth adding it to a cookie tray!

I take these to my Italian friends at the holidays and they absolutely love them. The flavors and textures compliment each other well. I do find that slicing them can be messy, so I freeze them for 30 minutes to firm the dough.

The problem with this recipe is that there is no way I could spread the dough out to the size they said - it ended up being so thin that the cookies were like long short strips - not like the picture at all. The flavor was surprisingly bland as well and the different flavours of the different dough are not noticeable. Still, these are festive looking as well as great tasting - I added pistachios instead of pecans to the green dough before assembling.
