"In searching for a 'good hamburger recipe,' I found a few different ones that I've taken elements from and combined with what I recall from my mother's blend. They are juicy, hold together well, and have a mild heat to them that can be made to taste by adjusting the cayenne."

Directions

  1. Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate.
  2. Whisk egg, barbeque sauce, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and black pepper together in a large bowl; add ground beef and mix well. Mix bread crumbs and minced onion into the ground beef mixture. Scoop sour cream into the beef mixture by the spoonful; continue mixing and adding sour cream just until moist. Form mixture into 6 large patties.
  3. Cook the patties until they are very firm, hot, and grey in the center, 6 to 8 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).

What I liked about this recipe is that the burgers stayed nice and moist, even when using lean 96/4 ground beef. We usually cook our burgers to about a medium doneness, but I knew with the addition of the onions, they would need more time to cook. Even well done they were very juicy. I did find that the meat needed some salt, so I will add that next time to enhance the flavors. These would probably be really good if you mixed the meat early in the day in order for the flavors to blend.

Delicious .. The most moist burgers I have ever tasted. The Sour Cream is the "secret" trick. I added some real bacon bits, and some Epicure Selections spices and used real garlic. Mmm Mmm good. I will be using this recipe from now on to make my barbeque burgers. Did I say Del-i-cious!
