i skipped out on the sour cream; we are not fans. i thawed the beans in cold water and added them to an already heated pan of bacon grease (couple tbs., not much) upped the butter and added soy sauce, garlic, crush red pepper and onion flakes as opposed to the real thing, and they taste like the ones from the Chinese restaurant!! they took maybe 20 min or so for cook time tho, were still too hard to my taste at 5 min, but everybody's different, keep a check til your desired consistency. awesome starter recipe, thank you so much :)
