This was my first time making applesauce and I was pleased with how simple the process is! I can't believe I am going to say this, but it was too sweet and I would recommend cutting back the sugar unless you like it super sweet. I would make this again with a sugar adjustment. I used an immersion blender to blend the apples once removed from the stove.

I just made this recipe. I also think there is too much sugar in the recipe so I reduced to only about a 1/4 of a cup or less with about a dozen Spy apples peeled and cored and quartered. I added only about a 1/4 cup of water as the apples produce liquid also. I also added a cinnamon stick while simmering. Sauce is delicious and can be mashed easily to make a smoother sauce if desired. I didn't give a 5 star either because of the excessive amount of sugar and water as called for in the original recipe. You can always add sugar after taste testing.

This recipe is super easy to make and absolutely delicious. We made four pints worth (about 24 apples) just a few minutes ago and our kids were begging to taste and eat it right away. I did reduce the sugar to 1/4c to my family's tastes. I also, instead of ground cinnamon, boiled cinnamon sticks with the apples. So pleased with how this recipe turned out and I can guarantee I'll be making it for many years to come. Thank you for sharing with us!!!!!

So yummy and so easy! I never thought to try making applesauce, but I was left with about 8# of apples that were going. I almost doubled the recipe. It's a bit sweet for my taste (I prefer sour) but not much sweeter than conventional applesauce. I cooked on the stove and then transferred into the blender to puree. I'm lazy, LOL. Next time, I will probably cut a little of the sugar OR use granny smith instead of red delicious. For those of you who want a smooth applesauce, don't transfer it all to the blender at once because there will likely be chunks left in. Transfer in smaller batches.

Delicious! Very sweet, very much like apple pie filling, but that's not a bad thing! I used cortland apples and added a tiny bit of freshly grated nutmeg.
