Directions

  1. Butter both sides of bread. Cut a circular hole in the center of the slice of bread, about 2 inches in diameter.
  2. Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat. When the frying pan is hot, place the bread into the pan and toast for 1 minute. Turn and toast the other side for 1 minute.
  3. Break the egg into the hole in the bread. Cook for 2 minutes, or until the egg is cooked to your preference.

I did spray my non-stick skillet with PAM. I also had to flip mine to get the egg to fully cook. Quick and easy to get you going.

I ate this a lot when growing up, my mom always called it Egg In a Frame...it is a basic recipe that would work well, however you should grease the pan first and use a biscuit cutter to make the hole in the bread, you can make it different shapes with cookie cutters for a fun time, kids like this a lot...a good basic food, that is easy to prepare.

This is comfort food I got from my mother. Of course (gasp!) sara lee bread is not a requirement. :)
