Just made this bread for the first time and I am enthralled by it. The best dark, maybe best ever, bread I have ever made. The crust is perfectly crusty, crunchy and the crumb is beautiful and delicious. Good just to eat by itself. I could eat this without butter which is saying a lot for me. But, wonderful with any accompaniment including, as someone else mentioned, cheeses. I only substituted melted butter for the margarine. Used the dark corn syrup...did not substitute molasses as some have mentioned, because I don't like the strong flavor it imparts. I fully intend to make a lot more of this recipe.
